Integrated Pest Management & Troutner Farms LLC
Integrated Pest Management (IPM), also known as integrated pest management (IPC) is a broad- based approach that integrates practices for economic control of pests. IPM aims to suppress pest population below the economic injury level (EIL). Integrated Pest Management amasses the growth of a healthy crop with the least possible disruption to agro-ecosystems and encourages natural pest control methods. The emphasis is on control, not eradication. Attempting to wipe out an entire population is often impossible, and the attempt can be expensive, unsafe and unethical.
Troutner Farm’s programs work to establish acceptable pest levels, setting thresholds and applying controls if and when those thresholds are crossed. The thresholds are pest and site specific, meaning that it may be acceptable at one site to tolerate a certain weed such as dandelions, but not at another. Allowing a pest population to survive at an acceptable level creates a natural balance, this lowers the rate at which a pest population develops. We truly believe in this theory and entrust our methods to it.
We use careful consideration of all available pest control techniques, preventive practices, monitoring, mechanical and biological controls. Troutner Farms believes it is possible to manage your farm and discourage the development of pest populations using natural methods. If you are trying to meet a certain criteria for your farm in pest control, our methods and integrated pest management team may be your answer.
